ABOUT CAROLINE
Caroline Yuill’s earliest food memory takes her back to North Africa, Libya, Tripoli in the 50’s when her Mum served her avgolemono chicken broth, aged 3. Reaction not particularly positive but set the tone for Caroline’s upbringing based on try anything once; keep your taste buds alive and your mind open.
Caroline’s Mum is Norwegian and she brought her children up on creative home cooking from all over the world, dishes accomplished from traveling with an engineer Dad setting up hydro-electric power on many continents. Caroline has travelled widely at every opportunity, always experimenting in a culinary field with local people and learning new methods to create exciting dishes. Her interest in wine began in the 70’s picking grapes as a student in Pommard, Burgundy. This was the first time she tasted a wine and realised there was something more to what was immediately apparent in the glass. From that day Caroline read, absorbed, tasted whenever possible and eventually studied viniculture and viticulture in Beaune, Burgundy.
Caroline’s passion for marrying a sensuous wine with a voluptuous dish, simple though they may be, has been effervescing for many years and now culminates in sharing her enthusiasm with you through Gourmet Espionnage.
WHAT PEOPLE SAY
"We enjoyed meeting the other members of the group and the visits to the Domaines, the wine tastings and absolutely delicious foods - everything was very well planned and my gourmet experiences were mouthwatering. I much appreciate your arrangement for making Fusae’s birthday celebration so special - she was very moved by it. The tastings have changed her life! From now on she likes wine very much, which could be a little dangerous! K.K., Japan"
".....many thanks for organising such a wonderful gourmet adventure. Phil and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and learned so much (as well as being a few pounds heavier). As the weeks go by, there’s something very ‘haunting’ about having to complete another gastronomic experience! B.L., U.S.A."
"I just wanted to say how much we enjoyed the weekend course - the more so since we’ve had a chance to reflect on it all once we got home. We both feel we learned a lot about wine making - even Don who had quite a lot of knowledge beforehand. The cooking course and lunch which followed was excellent as was the chocolate course - all the food and teaching were outstanding. All in all a great weekend. S.S., England."
"We absolutely wanted to take the time to write you and thank you very much for giving our group such a lovely adventure. Your organisation, thoroughness, responsiveness and charming personality made the experience a huge success! The personalised attention you give and the attitude you exude, whether it be early in the morning or at the end of the day, cannot be matched. A.L., U.S.A."
"Our wine tour with Caroline was a fantastic day - well worth the money! Caroline is very knowledgeable, interesting and friendly. It was a really enjoyable and educational day and we would thoroughly recommend it! W.Mc., Australia."
